Tonight I came across 12 Zodiac paintings which were unknown to me before. They are by the Dutch artist Johfra who passed away in 1998. I particularly love his interpretation of Capricorn. See the Youtube video for the Zodiac paintings.

Other paintings I liked are Arachne and Hecate. Below you can find Arachne by Johfra, by chance the asteroid is also of importance in my chart. More Johfra works can be viewed on this site.

The myth of Arachne is a very sad one:

In astrology, we have an asteroid maiden called Arachne. Arachne was a peasant girl who hung herself after being disgraced in a weaving contest with Minerva. Minerva was a Goddess who challenged Arachne to a contest. When Arachne’s weaving work was equally beautiful, Minvera, in a jealous rage sliced her weave/web from top to bottom. She then changed her into a spider and is now known for her skill at weaving. Arachne’s astrological glyph (picture) is a spiders web! Was it Shakespeare who said “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive?” – From this digital magazine.

Some time ago, I failed to tell a lie. Even though the constellation Corvus is prominent in my chart, the truth loving 8th house makes sure that when temptation strikes I will be seen through. The question: has my lie been discovered?

Mercury and Saturn can be associated to the topic of lying, and the 12th house for “hidden things”. Venus as the ruler of the 11th house is in conjunction with both of these. It is not me who is fond of speculation, if that causes me to agitate then my conscience won’t bother me.

I know it’s wrong what I have done,

mendacem memorem esse oportet
It is fitting that a liar should be a man of good memory

On the other hand, the response to the lie was unproportional. Therefor:

exitus acta probat
The result validates the deeds.

I’ve made a wallpaper out of this horary:

September 25th I discovered a lump in my left breast. The following Tuesday I went to see my doctor, who said it was probably a cyst, but to be sure I should go to the hospital to get pictures taken. Normally in these cases, I don’t use astrology to tell me anything. I would only be in more agony than I already would be. I did draw a horary, but closed it after I saw the Moon’s Nodes were on the axis. I did not interpret it any further and closed the program. Despite that, as an astrologer stuff starts to connect in your mind anyways. Stuff you don’t need astrology programs for, but know by heart.

Transit Saturn is approaching conjunction with my Natal moon and is now conjunct the Natal ruler of the house of my health: Mercury. Next to that Transit Pluto is squaring my Moon. Both of these are transits that have to do with “female things and concerns” (Moon). Additionally, transit Mars comes to the eclipse point of 22nd of July (29 degrees Cancer) soon. As you may or may not know, astrological prognoses works on different levels:

1. Physical.
2. Emotional.
3. Intellectual.
4. Spiritual.

I’m never sure how spiritual differs from the intellectual side, but, whenever looking at a chart the part where the astrologer has to guess is the level at which transits and progressions are going to play out [field of play or stage]. At this time I’m not sure if I have the worst possible: breast cancer or that it’s just a benign growth. Just like a peek at the horary could not tell me if it’s my own fear I was reading, or the state of my body. I am absolutely scared to death, I’ve never been this afraid in my entire life. In this case astrology does not help at all, and it bothers me that I’m able to see this.

As the answer will be revealed, more about this topic. For now, I’m halting all astrology activities until I know the answer.

I visited the hospital october 1st. They did an echo of my left breast, which revealed that it indeed was a cyste. The doctor also told me I have multiple smaller cystes in my breast and that the one I discovered just came up to the surface. As an addition to this post, I will now show the horary I saved which I was too afraid to interpret on my own behalf.

“Do I have breast cancer?”

As you can see the Moon’s Nodes are very close to the axis Ascendant/ Descendant. The first house deals partly with health as well but most of all: they indicate how serious the question is. “Fate, life or death”. Any planet or cusp residing on the nodal degree (the same degree as the Moon’s nodes) will get that same critical connotation. It is to no surprise the Moon is in this same degree, which deals with feminine topics. My own significator (Saturn) is in the nodal degree as well. The square aspect between Saturn and Moon can also indicate the nature of the concern. Saturn in medical astrology is always involved with all things “old age, hardening’s, lumps, arthritis”. I’m not sure if Saturn rules cancer (as in the disease), but I would guess so since it rules the warning signs of cancer. Please follow this link to read about another horary where Saturn and this type of a health problem is discussed.

In addition we see that the Moon is aspected by Saturn and Mercury by a separating square and that the Moon is “Void of course”. A void of course Moon often occurs in charts when the person who asks the question will soon stop worrying about it. In the case of sickness or questions about sickness it means a quick healing period or simply “nothing to worry about” (Hamaker, p114). Mars is fairly well aspected, though again the Arabic parts indicate the enormous fear. The significator for my health (Mercury) is retrograde. It only became clear what the meaning of this was after I consulted my horary book by Hamaker: “Missing information” (p.85).

Somehow I wished I had the guts to have taken up a book earlier, but in all due honesty I practise astrology with a healthy dose of scepticism and I would never be influenced to not see a doctor because of astrology. I recommend everyone else to do the same. Though I believe my scepticism let’s me see astrology’s boundaries more clearly, these are topics where astrology does not offer some kind of consolation and would only end up in too much preoccupation when you should not be over stressing yourself.

Since friday I’ve been having a traffic light internet connection, so I calculated a chart just to see whether my internet would go down more seriously after that. I remember saying the words: “NOOOO! THIS IS BAD”. So Sunday around the same time period, the internet decided to log off on me. I asked astrology, “is the outage related to something in my house” (like my computer, bad wiring, difficulty with ISRA point, so on). Astrology said “No, it isn’t”, because Venus is not impacted in the second chart. During the interpretation of this chart, my internet connection was re-established. The funny thing about this chart? Now Moon has moved almost exactly to the Stationary Mercury and Mars is almost exactly at the ASC/DESC axis. Thank you, astrology. You have been most enlightening.

I’m not going to ask ‘when is it going to go down again?‘, as I’m too afraid of the answer: it’s that creepy.

Today I was cruising by the new topics on the astrology forum I frequently visit (but still am sort of inactive in). Occasionally I find a topic worth responding to because it means something to me, like the topic on refusing planetary lessons.

A user posted this:

Have you ever thought of this or tried this: Let’s say you know what lessons you are here to learn by looking at your birth chart or just by living life (because the same “lessons” usually keep appearing). Have you ever thought of the idea that you have the right to say NO to any “lessons” you do not wish to learn?

For example, I am a Capricorn, say one of my lessons is to learn patience. And say I tell the Universe, “No, I am here to have fun. I refuse to learn patience. Save that for someone else…”

My opinion is that we have the right to say No. If you’ve tried it, maybe you’d like to share your findings?

To which my response was:

In the end I think it’s how “refusing” or “accepting” a lesson is interpreted. Is it the immediate thing you’re feeling that you need to conform to, or is it something you need to get smarter on without conforming to that immediate feeling?

The lessons I got offered and “refused” (and why):

- “Don’t poke people where it hurts”. I always got pulled back no the leash for that one. So frantically I researched and critically examined what it was I said and why that would hurt them. There were only a few times I saw that something was not wise, but often times I would come to the conclusion they were taking offense on something that could only be traced back to ego matters like jealousy, not acknowledging their own weakness and so on. So now, when I feel this lesson coming on and I know it can be traced back to ego matters I do not back down. Instead I hope these people poison themselves hating me; so hopefully the light will go on some day for them.

- “Know your place”. This one really took the life out of me to figure out. Since in some situations it felt like the entire society was ‘against’ me, telling me to ‘know my place’. I identified which rules I was not respecting only to form my own opinion about these rules. Some rules I understood to be important they be respected, other rules were applied unequally to young/old, female/male, this person/that person. I decided then and there that I wasn’t going to know my place when the rules were only applying to subgroups or minorities and not everyone. Quite frankly, I hope that when I do not know my place, I shake up things well enough to break through the dogma.

- “Fit in better”. This one is also partly ‘know your place’, though a little different. It’s the result of defying ‘know your place’ and ‘don’t poke where it hurts’. You start feeling the pressure of missing out on things other people seem to be having. The answer so I figured out: it’s the result of doing what is justified instead of doing what is accepted [but has no sufficient justification]. You will have to come to terms with the fact that there’s no way you can avoid feeling lonely. Virgo/Cappy, sit on the mountain you just climbed but don’t forget to smile at the theater going on in the valley (so I thought).

The lesson patience is pretty much the same. Take every scenario where you feel ‘you’re getting patience pushed onto yourself’ and ask yourself as objectively as is possible if that is a justified request. Push on if it isn’t justified, stand back when there’s good reason to be patient. Reverse the tables on yourself.

It’s not always “the path of the least resistance”. It just depends on what’s more important to you: justice or fitting in, just make sure it isn’t only pride that makes you act ‘contra’. When you do it for the right reasons, there’s nothing to regret.

This is the essence for children of Saturn and Uranus. This is a way of succesfully learning a lesson for them. Not in the how many ways I can count to avoid a situation from repeating on itself. It’s something I see forgotten a lot in the astrology community, which I regret and why I speak up.

Edit: As for the comments on love; people that “refuse”, I’m sorry: don’t avoid to tackle problems by fetching the horns, are just as capable and worthy of love. Their ardent nature makes them seem frightening or cold in the eyes of others; see paragraph ‘Fitting in’. When it comes to this, our lesson as children of Saturn and Uranus is to learn to recognize who is not afraid to climb the mountain and enjoy the view together. By now I also know that it takes an enormous courage to do so and I come to understand it’s not for everyone. Just like this lifestyle isn’t for everyone.

This site has always given me the most trouble in terms of finding a layout and then sticking with it. Solstice Productions, my video editing studio has been running on the same layout for years. So is virtualjapan.net. My personal blog has also always featured some of the most beautiful webdesign. I believe my attempts at setting up this site [the horary] is cursed! If I can find the time I activated this blog install I will post the chart later on, and see if there’s some truth to that statement.

Meanwhile I’m changing small things here and there to make it seem more complete. I’m also developing a second type of template where the text area is bigger and the sidebar is smaller for the pages. It’s good to have a double sidebar “blogging style”, but it does nothing to further content on pages.

Edit: I now have the chart for you. Please read further to see my interpretation.

Instead of asking a question, I tracked back to the time where I setup this site by looking at the oldest (and most permanent) table in the database. What’s immediately striking about this chart is the Mars to ASC conjunction and the opposition to Chiron. I wasn’t even running a few days and only made a couple of entries until someone had a fit at me from down under. I sure do hope his health is okay and that he’s taking his blood pressure medication. Mercury was Retrograde at the time of installation, that’s never any good either. For the creative part of creating layouts however, I would look at house 5. There we see Pluto in opposition to the two planets that would have greatly helped building a fantastic layout namely Sun/Venus. The moon in the anaretic degree in Scorpio in house 4, both signifying ‘feeling at home with something’ aren’t exactly to cheer for either. Cursed I tell you! It’s also in planetary themes exactly what I’m struggling with in the creative process. Bright colors (Sun/Venus) versus dark colors (Pluto). There’s always that conflict there in every design I make. Then I either blend it down, or power up and none of it seems to work.

I’m tempted to delete and run the install again, but no such thing! This cappy/virgo doesn’t do well at shying away just because it doesn’t look pretty! Let me show you the ways I can just try and try again until I get it right, dear astrology!

Look what I found today. The discussion was irrelevant to astrology when Pluto was demoted, and will also be irrelevant if Pluto becomes a planet again. The good part about this article for astrologers: less idi- I mean, mentally cha- I mean sceptics asking critical questions. I had to smirk at this sentence by the way:

“We are shaking off the last vestiges of the mythological view of planets as special objects in the sky – and the idea that there has to be a small number of them because they’re special.”

This is why, I believe the art of astrology should not be lost. Separation was inevitable, disappearance of one half would be inexcusable. It’s such a dichotomy, while humanity tries to explain every single thing that happens on earth and in the wide black sea beyond by every method empirical, I remain convinced you would need to understand things that are beyond empirical for “everything” to fit into place. I am not arguing for astrology and astronomy to become one again, I’m merely arguing that if empiricism is the ultimate goal it has more implications than just understanding cause and effect.
