Queen’s day drama

What was supposed to be a celebration to the Dutch, ended in tragedy. Today, at around 10 to 12 a black car drove into a crowd of people watching the Queen’s Day parade. At the moment I’m writing this a press conference has yet to take place. Until now 1-2 dead, 12 injured.

I’ve drawn up the chart for this event:

What immediately stands out is the position of the Moon’s nodes (fated events). They are extremely close to the axis. Such is often the case when these types of things take place. Also take note of the position of Mercury @ 29 degrees in Taurus (the anateric degree). The fixed stars around this degree are in the Pleiades, according to Ptolemy of the nature of Moon/Mars; violent death. It is actually described as the constellation ‘that really gives you something to cry about‘ if an important planet is positioned at this place.

The 11th house also is described in the Rulership book of J. Lee Lehman as “The King’s allies”, “The King’s Servants”. You could deduct that the 11th house are the people that were watching and enjoying the parade. Mercury receives hard Squares from the 8th house, which traditionally means ‘Death, Way of Death’.

Midpoints show interesting developments around Mercury showing “disruption”, “sudden events”. These are the midpoints:
Mercury = Moon/Mars (dist. > 1.30 degrees) – Violent accident
Mercury = Uranus/Node (dist. 12 minutes) – Sudden fated event
Mercury = Uranus/ ASC (dist. +/- 1 degree) – Sudden event

For other planets, these midpoint structures are of importance:
Uranus = Moon/ Mercury (dist. 13 minutes) – Fear and nervousness.
Uranus = Mars/Saturn (dist. 27 minutes) – Sudden accident
Mars = Uranus/MC (dist. 2 degrees – From the 10th house: a nation in shock)

All in all, a very insightful chart which displays several of the indications usually found in the charts of shocking events.

Book Review: Anthony Louis – Horary Astrology

Full title: Horary Astrology Plain & Simple: Accurate answers to real life questions.

In terms of practical lookup use it’s better to stick with Karen Hamaker’s book on horary astrology, which provides easy access to each of the rules. This is mostly the only bad thing about Anthony Louis’ book about horary astrology. It’s hard to find something again!

On the positive side: he provides us with some astounding examples and I can really say I have learned more from Anthony’s writing than Karen’s when it comes to deciding whether a chart is ‘good’ to judge. Anthony named this ‘a radical chart’. I’ve only now discovered the importance and strength when a chart is ‘radical’. I would definitely recommend this book about horary astrology as an addition to your library. Another advantage for me is that I’m learning to map the dutch terminology to the english terminology. I absolutely had no idea about the jargon in horary astrology in english. I’m also really happy with the number of natal charts for Nations in the appendix. As a Japanophile, I found the chart of Japan with a Capricorn Ascendant rather humorous.

Book review: Celeste Teal – Eclipses

I actually had some serious doubts about the practical use of this book when I read it. It was only when I started to look up eclipses in contact with some of my own natal positions that I’ve come to value Celeste Teal’s book on eclipses. I have discovered that in accordance with Celeste’s findings, I have had a great deal of activity in the area of relationships when it coincided with a cluster of eclipses on the Ascendant. Moreover eclipses seem ‘not all bad’ as I thought beforehand. I’ve discovered that they act as the engine behind the success of well known people.

I have yet to see the refining effect of whether it’s a dragons tail or dragon’s head eclipse or if there’s really any noticeable difference between solar and lunar eclipses. Eclipses have certainly caught my eye now. I had hoped the book would establish some more examples so it would be easier for me to imagine what the effects are of a certain eclipse (cluster), but the examples given provide just enough studying material.

The appendix is really valuable.
