Mercury is retrograde as you know and I’ve been noticing it, specifically because it’s making a square to my natal Saturn. “Disruptions in communication”. My internet has been failing on me 6 times already. It’s a national disturbance, but I planned to do a lot of work today on the computer. Also because I couldn’t go shopping like I planned, because of the weather.

Scared for my life
September 25th I discovered a lump in my left breast. The following Tuesday I went to see my doctor, who said it was probably a cyst, but to be sure I should go to the hospital to get pictures taken. Normally in these cases, I don’t use astrology to tell me anything. I would only be in more agony than I already would be. I did draw a horary, but closed it after I saw the Moon’s Nodes were on the axis. I did not interpret it any further and closed the program. Despite that, as an astrologer stuff starts to connect in your mind anyways. Stuff you don’t need astrology programs for, but know by heart.
Transit Saturn is approaching conjunction with my Natal moon and is now conjunct the Natal ruler of the house of my health: Mercury. Next to that Transit Pluto is squaring my Moon. Both of these are transits that have to do with “female things and concerns” (Moon). Additionally, transit Mars comes to the eclipse point of 22nd of July (29 degrees Cancer) soon. As you may or may not know, astrological prognoses works on different levels:
1. Physical.
2. Emotional.
3. Intellectual.
4. Spiritual.
I’m never sure how spiritual differs from the intellectual side, but, whenever looking at a chart the part where the astrologer has to guess is the level at which transits and progressions are going to play out [field of play or stage]. At this time I’m not sure if I have the worst possible: breast cancer or that it’s just a benign growth. Just like a peek at the horary could not tell me if it’s my own fear I was reading, or the state of my body. I am absolutely scared to death, I’ve never been this afraid in my entire life. In this case astrology does not help at all, and it bothers me that I’m able to see this.
As the answer will be revealed, more about this topic. For now, I’m halting all astrology activities until I know the answer.
Eclipses in astrology
I’m just in time for the longest solar total eclipse of the 21st century. I got so fascinated by this eclipse I bought Celeste Teal’s Eclipses last year, which I wouldn’t want to miss as part of my collection.
Interpreting eclipses
While they foremost have a mundane signficance, people usually ask what the eclipse means for them so I will focus this paragraph on the interpretation of an eclipse in a natal chart. First thing to find out is what house the eclipse falls in and which sign. If it falls in one of the angular houses (1,7,4,10) the effect of the eclipse is enhanced because the 4 angular houses are also the 4 corner stones of life: profession, relations and marriage, home and family and the (bodily) self. The sign of an eclipse tells you in what kind of way this eclipse will work out.
The third thing to find out is whether this is a North Node eclipse or a South Node eclipse. The difference between the two is that North Node eclipses signify areas of new beginnings, gained strength and vigor while the south node eclipse is about giving, an area of vulnarability, where you might be confronted with some crisis. While backtracking some of my own eclipses, which I admit I didn’t have a lot in my adult life, I didn’t really notice a difference between south node eclipses and north node eclipses. Perhaps that is also because many of the eclipses occurred in my 1st and 7th house; which is also the natal position of my Nodes. Perhaps that’s what’s meant in this article, “On the other hand, an eclipse falling in a house of the North Node influence may open new doors and present major life-changing opportunities.”
Aspects the eclipse makes to natal planets are only important if they’re conjunctions or oppositions. Some count squares or parrallels as well, but I personally wouldn’t do that. The planet in conjunction or opposition to the eclipse point will color the entire meaning of the eclipse. In my own chart you can see that my Mars/North Node in the 7th house is on the exact spot the July 21st eclipse will hit. A solar total eclipse in an angular house is literally active for years and it remains a sensitive point for quite some time. Usually the eclipse also needs to be activated by either Sun, Mars or Saturn since these are the planets that have the biggest impact.
- 7th house: relationships, partnerships (business), open enemies, contracts.
- Eclipse in Cancer (water): home(land), family, large crowds, the public, popular subjects of the moment. Those dealing in domestic products or services of interest to women will find that eclipses in the sign of Cancer precede a transitional period [Teal].
- Eclipse conjunction to Mars: health issues, feeling like you have confidence “fight spirit” but at the same time conflicts, one of the most eclipsed planets prior to the marriage of a woman [Teal].
Points of discussion
Some astrologers say that you need to be “in the path” of the eclipse for it to be of signficance to you.
Pluto transits
My Plutonic years are coming! A recent reminder to the July 7th lunar eclipse also reminded me of the place where Pluto is going to be in my natal chart in the coming years. I do remember that when Pluto first crossed the border to Capricorn I felt like a giant load was removed from my shoulders. Something really heavy which I had been carrying around for years and years was suddenly lifted, never to return again.
Right now Pluto has been squaring my Moon. I’m on the virge of moving out of the parental home, which seems to match with the descriptions usually given to this transit. Power conflicts I didn’t really notice yet, but that’s perhaps because of my occupation. It’s the task of the day as far as I’m concerned and can therefor no longer count for something with such impact. Other big changes, I don’t know. I do notice, certainly now that the economy is in recession, that I have trouble coping with restrictions placed upon me from the outside world. I feel like I have less than the desired control on my own life than I want. As a dutiful Virgo/Cap Ascendant, I even have moments where I almost cannot resist of doing something stupid or crazy. Everyone knows, Virgo/Cap people don’t really do stupid and crazy stuff. It’s in their taboo book, right next to: “just act normal and you’re crazy enough”.
Perhaps these Pluto transits will eventually enable me to regain control in a manner that I feel is satisfactory. What I truly do hope, is that the power of my 8th house will be unleashed. Pluto is the dispositor of the 8th house, and therefor every transit it makes activates the roaring power in that 8th house. I do believe that through the years trying to carry that 8th house, I have built up what is necessary to not simply succumb to a Pluto transit, even though I might feel fearful of big decisions. In a sense, I am looking forward to the coming years as a means to “having it my way”. However, merely ‘getting my own place‘ is not going to cut it for me. I want some kind of possibility which enables me to take control and make a choice for myself and go for it with 500%. I’m still in the stage that I am searching for a ‘choice’ that will spark this kind of motivation. Whether it be professional or personal, it doesn’t even matter.
As a 10 degrees Capricorn Ascendant, it’s still going to take a while before Pluto will conjunct this point, namely 2013. Influence will probably start in 2010. Right now I think it’s just a continuation of the Pluto square Moon transit. If Pluto square Moon is making me desire to have control fruitlessly over my direction, perhaps it is Pluto conjunct Ascendant that will make me succesfully exert the influence. Due to my history, I am absolutely committed to have nobody overshadow me, ever. It’s like: I did not fight the entire world and then some to get in a situation where there’s no way out. I’m just oozing with confidence and I can probably take on every setback if I just had that thing, that someone, that career, that whatever it is (…)
Under the control of Pluto, you can almost taste it, feel it coming. “Something big is about to happen”. Something of enormous proportion, life changing. Right now I live with the enormous frustration of “waiting for the day the moment comes”.
