Oh server-chan, oh server-chan

Why must you not be configured with the mime type I need? Okay, so it’s not a glorious version of “Oh christmas tree“.

:twitch:

Belgian office wanted their digital christmas card online at the last moment. Got an e-mail in french which explained I could get the files from their ftp server. Which I did. I take a look, it’s some kind of open source flash player and an mp4 video file. I put it online, I get an error message. “Stream not found”, with a file path. Which was wrong. I corrected the file path in the PHP, still not found. I call the mp4 file in the browser, 404. I check the location of the mp4, it’s _really_ there. Then I knew what was wrong: mime type not configured on IIS6.

I send a message back to french webdesigner “it doesn’t work”. Just for shits. I get back “well that’s because the file isn’t there”. Yes, oh bright lights of the universe~ but you also missed it runs IIS6 as shown on the 404. *sigh* It’s times like these I wished I knew less of this crap so I could have a clear conscience not even mailing the hosting provider to get the friggin’ mime type in.

Well, once that was done it worked alrighty. For every flash version 10 upwards without any warning at all. lol.

I only have one abbreviation that covers it: FOF.
