The crisis of yesterday seems to have been resolved. Still had to check on some stuff remotely last night but that was the biggest fail since I started working there. Meanwhile busy, busy and more busy. It’s time for christmas vacation, that’s for sure.
Two wins for today… Actually programmers full of fail:
- Menu order in an application can’t be managed by the user, but can only be manipulated in a database field. When you do that, you only have a maximum of 9 options: 1-9. That’s because it interprets menu option 11 as the menu option that needs to come under 1. Sure 91, 92, 93 fixes it, but good grief.
- I had 3 people over time looking at a particular problem, since I’m not supposed to meddle with it myself. I began to loose my patience as I usually do, so I go look “under the hood” at the “engine”. Within 2 hours I haz workaround because I found root cause. If I knew how to program in that particular language I could probably fix it. Well; at least they have the line number of code they should be fixin’ now. *coughs* outsourcing never works.
If I had a dime for every sloppy programmer I would come across, I’d be filthy rich.
