While I was driving home today the same thing happened my car has been doing ever since I bought it. I never noticed it again for a long time but there it was: no more gas, no more kilometers travelled, no more speed indication… They all drop to zero while driving 130km/h. Mmm. Next to that all kinds of lights jump on, including WARNING AIRBAG. That’s the one I really worry about. lol. It also seems your car transforms in a small discotheque: exterior lights all jump on. After about 5 seconds it goes back to normal. Mechanically the car is fine, it’s just got a few wires crossed the wrong way.

Note: this is not my dashboard, mine would say around 150.000km. lol.
In the beginning I had the dealer check it out and they went “huh we didn’t find anything funny”. Turns out as I was searching the net later on, that all peugeots made around september 2002 had some sort of an electrical problem. It made sense now someone did return it with only 2600km. Seemed to have belonged to an older gentlemen. Well; air bag still didn’t blow up in my face so I guess I’m good.
It has that disco problem and it has what all Peugeots have; acid monkey gear shifting. Very masculine, no titsy itty bitty chick shift. I hated that when I drove a Nissan once because this one was in the shop. Like *tut* that was first gear? You mean it’s in? This is not a car! Oh… and the clutch catches really late. First time drivers will without fail stall the engine the first time. After that comes not being able to take off very fast. It requires finesse. You know the French. But at least it’s got a decent ashtray!

*drives an automatic* My car would do that and stall on me not too long ago. But it was so infrequent and hard to recreate that it took FOREVER to figure out that one of my censors had gone bad. But since dad couldn’t get it to mess up again to zero in on which one, he just replaced both.
Hmm, once I have enough of my loan money in, I’m buying myself a car. Either a Malibu or a Grand Prix, I think.
